1 Tararua Road 4.93kms 06:26   (S. Murray - 3:23) A short, sharp, downhill, warm up. Tight and
twisty on narrow road. All gravel.
2 Kopikopiko Road 13.61kms 06:59   (New Stage) Fast flowing, predictable, hard base metal stage.
3 Ridge Road North 7.19kms 07:38   (S. Murray - 5:27) Fast, flowing start. Tightens. Then downhill on narrow road. Fast finish. All hard base gravel.
4 Saddle Road 10.23kms 08:52   (L.Scott - 5:30) Steep up and down over the Tararua Range. Famous hillclimb road. Fast but difficult. All tarmac.
5 Manfield 13.45kms 09:28   (G.Inkster - 6:36) 5 laps of the 3km circuit. Fast and furious. All tarmac.
6 Pakihikura 42.47kms 11:08   (G. Inkster - 31.41, 640m shorter than last year) The longest, toughest stage! Start at Sandon Block - finish on Beaconsfield Valley Rd. Classic rally roads. Fast & flowing in parts, but many tight bits. Three tarmac pieces. Finish line now on straight to remove tricky finish line corners (Diggles Dangle!). 95% gravel.
7 McBeth Road 7.65kms 12:11   (S. Murray - 5:36) Short, sharp, tricky stage. Starts tight & twisty. TV and huge crowd on hairpin left. Climbs to ridge top to fast road with off camber corners. All hard base gravel.
8 Tunipo Road 8.9kms 13:20   (G. Inkster - 6:01) Starts with steep, narrow hillclimb. Then faster, flowing road. Fast, but tricky stage. All hard base gravel.
9 Utuwai 19.89kms 14:01   (13:00 S. Murray) Fast start, steep, tight gorge in middle. Fast, flowing to finish. 97% hard base gravel.
10 Ridge Road 34.3kms 15:02   (C.West - 25:50) No Daybreaker would be complete without it! The sting in the tail! Tight, twisty, hard-base gravel roads along the ridge tops. Tough stage that has caught many over the years. All gravel.
