1 Pirongia West 1 24.22kms 09:18   Was 18.31km in 2006 and 2007. Extended 5.91km with a new finish at 24.22km. Start to 4.86km is tight, winding uphill, then opens out for 4km before narrowing, downhill and opens to a flowing finish.
 
2.1 Waitomo 1 - part 1 25.85kms 10:21   New start point 0.09km before last year. This stage is a combination of wide fast and flowing intermixed with winding, narrow and tight sections with grass growing in the middle of the road. While technically difficult it is a great drivers' road where car control skills count.
2.2 Waitomo 1 - part 2 17.36kms 10:51

6 Port Waikato 17.22kms 09:08   Narrow at the start opens up past Limestone Downs with a flowing finish. A variety of conditions makes this a technical stage.
7 Possum 13.78kms 09:46   A tight and narrow 5km uphill climb opens up to winding and flowing roads, tight in places. Similar to the Te Akau stages. Traditionally used by local Clubs this is a great drivers stage.
8 Franklin 31.58kms 10:24   Wider road for the start, which is both flowing and uphill, leads to a variety of road width, some fast, others tight and winding. Rock surface in places. Similar to the Te Akau stages. A technical stage which has caught out many drivers.
9 Mystery Creek SS 2 3.14kms 12:37   This includes a jump and water splash. It provides great spectator appeal both live and on television.
10 Te Akau South 31.92kms 15:03   A traditional stage with good flowing roads on a variety of surfaces providing some opportunities for drivers to attack.
11 Te Akau North 32.36kms 15:46   Another traditional stage similar to SS10 with a tricky downhill section about halfway through. 1km of tarmac on Dixon Road. Continuing road realignment makes this a more open stage

12 Te Hutewai 1 11.23kms 09:23   These are more abrasive gravel roads than in the north but still flows well with a fast finish.
13 Whaanga Coast 1 29.72kms 09:51   This could be the most photographed stage on the WRC circuit. Starting inland the stage moves out to the coast with spectacular ocean backdrops before going around the Te Toto Gorge to the finish. A hard surface but as shown over the last couple of years a driver can win or lose the event over this stage.
