Waipunga | 19.83kms | 07:30 | Completed | Darkey Spur in reverse! A real challenge – the stage will reward the brave. Starts with a good flow and tightens as you move on to Darkey Spur. It’s still narrow, tight and twisting and the drops?? They’re still there. A good base.
Mohaka Forest | 22.38kms | 08:33 | Completed | As used in previous years, Mohaka Forest starts with a good, solid surface with wide, fast and flowing main roads. The course then moves into tight and twisting secondary roads that climb to the top. A long down-hill section that will test drivers’ skills as the surrounding forest reduces visibility. Each change requires a change in rhythm. 20kms of intense driving.
Putere | 34.57kms | 10:13 | Completed | Waihi used in reverse to previous years. Starts by the lake, down through the staircase to the river and then climbs for 10kms, followed by approximately 20kms of very challenging downhill. Good county road, soft in places if wet. Weather permitting a good base will be retained.
Hereheretau | 20.7kms | 11:46 | Completed | Used in reverse to previous years. Bridges without sides, tight and twisty, off camber corners, this stage has it all. Starting on a secondary road and closes into good county road, with a good base. This stage will reward the brave.
Cricklewood | 27.36kms | 13:22 | Completed | An old favorite, but in reverse to previous years. This is “THE ROAD”. Fast and furious, unforgiving corners and big drops – ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Woodlands | 18.19kms | 13:54 | Completed | Used a few years ago this stage sees very little traffic. Starting on secondary forest roads, moving into county roads then back into the forest, finishing on a county road. A good solid base is a feature of this stage, with a steep drop and some tight corners. This stage will never be fast, but concentration is required.
Mohaka Coach | 17.41kms | 14:47 | Completed | Another old favourite but again run in reverse to last year. Starts open, then tightens with big drops then opens up again. Catches someone every year, so drivers beware. A challenge to get right!!

Esk Forest 1 | 23.89kms | 07:50 | Completed | This stage was used a few years ago. It starts on a heavily metalled forest road. It changes surface and rhythm many times as it moves through the forest and on to county road and then back into the forest to finish. A ford, a little seal and finishing on soft base all add to the challenge.
Waitara 1 | 30.33kms | 08:43 | Completed | Starting from the SH5 end, Waitara Road is fast! Wide open flowing gravel highway, changing to the tight and narrow Pohokura Road down through kiwi country towards Tutira.
Esk Forest 2 | 23.89kms | 11:00 | Completed | This stage was used a few years ago. It starts on a heavily metalled forest road. It changes surface and rhythm many times as it moves through the forest and on to county road and then back into the forest to finish. A ford, a little seal and finishing on soft base all add to the challenge.
Waitara 2 | 30.33kms | 11:53 | Completed | Starting from the SH5 end, Waitara Road is fast! Wide open flowing gravel highway, changing to the tight and narrow Pohokura Road down through kiwi country towards Tutira.
Triple Bridges | 11.34kms | 14:01 | Completed | A river access track, used three times before. As per last year, the humps haven’t moved, neither has the bridge support, but the surface has improved and so has the road. This stage is a spectator favourite.
Dartmoor | 21.38kms | 14:49 | Completed | A good old fashioned Hawke’s Bay county road. A good base throughout, great rhythm, and a pleasure to drive.
