| 1 | Trass Valley 1 | 31.5kms | 08:55 | Completed | The same as SS7 last year. Starts in the valley floor and heads uphill through recently logged areas. At the top it joins back onto the main arterial forestry road for another taste of fast & furious action through to the top of the Spooners Range, to pass through the spectator area. The stage then heads west along rally roads used in the past with a couple of tight corners to narrow near the entry into Rabbit Gully, then out to the Motueka Valley. Great gravel roads with a good hard base with changing surfaces the last few kms |
| 2 | Ridge 14 1 | 25.14kms | 10:35 | Completed | Starts in at the top of Kerrs Hill, and very quickly links onto last years SS9 where the main arterial road leads some smooth fast hard based ridge roads, then into the down hill section, with the odd patch of pine needles. Near the finish, a high speed approach to a tight corner with some flowing zig-zags to finish with. This stage is a drivers dream, flowing corners with a wide downhill section, and hard surfaces. |
| 3 | Biggs/Spooners Top 1 | 15.34kms | 11:15 | Completed | A short drive from the end of SS9. Starts on a gentle uphill and climbs to more fast ridge roads. Passing last years spectator area, and then a short blast along a wide fast ridge. Most of this stage is in open forests. Another good hard based road with a few corners to slow you down. |

| 7 | Shirtcliffs 1 | 33.92kms | 08:30 | Completed | SS3 from 2009 and used in previous years. Starts off uphill and then along a ridge before joining a wonderful big wide main arterial forestry road. This is fast and flowing with a good hard base. After 11km there is a downhill section, which takes you to the popular spectator area at the bottom of the Dovedale Hill. From here is 5 km of public road up to the top of the hill and then back into the forest for another blast along some more of the fantastic arterial forestry road and finally a 6km down hill section to the finish. |
| 8 | Raine Road 1 | 20.32kms | 09:40 | Completed | Last used in 2002 (a different name then), it is remembered as the stage that was very foggy and where we lost both the Zero Car and the Safety Car. It starts on Public Rd with a river on right hand side for 4.45 km, before heading into forest area. This section of road is made of hard rock base but as you head into the trees the road surface can become very slippery due to dampness and pine needles. The road is tricky then opens out a bit along the top to then quickly descend down hill to the valley floor on good solid but narrow road. |
| 9 | Richmond Park Super Special 1 | 1.49kms | 10:20 | Completed | A totally new concept for Nelson Rally. Held at Richmond Park, the stage starts with a 500m burst around the old galloping track which is very hard based with a short grass surface. At the end of this, cars will weave in through a chicaine and around the announcers tower into the paddock in the centre of the track where the course will take on the shape of a tight and twisty autocross. Paddock is hard based but if there is a lot of rain pre-rally it will cut up. Spectators will be contained on higher ground behind a fence on the new trotting track and will be able to see the whole stage. |
