| 1 | Ridge Road | 22.1kms | 08:35 | Completed | Last used in 2001. This will be the first opportunity to rally on this road with notes and reconnaissance. Public road with medium gravel. Two 500 m long sections of tarmac. Lots of blind brows. |
| 2 | Tokarahi | 27.3kms | 09:10 | Completed | As for SS1 but faster, last used in 2001. Public road, medium gravel, fast and flowing with brows. 200 m of tarmac in middle of stage. |
| 3 | Danseys Pass | 29.07kms | 10:12 | Completed | A classic stage over a sub–alpine pass. Medium gravel. A mixture of fast and twisty sections and large drops in places. A real challenge that was last used in 2001. |
| 4 | Shag Valley Back Rd 1 | 7.62kms | 11:32 | Completed | A new stage that has a large ford at a spectator point only 400 m into the stage. Treat with caution! The rest of the stage is all uphill on medium gravelled public road. |
| 5 | Taieri Peak | 29.24kms | 12:47 | Completed | Used in the 2008 Silver Fern but not as part of Rally Otago for many years. Public road that has some gnarly brows. Last 3 km has been realigned to make way for Macraes Gold Mine and is heavily gravelled. |
| 6 | Shag Valley Back Rd 2 | 7.62kms | 13:37 | Completed | A new stage that has a large ford at a spectator point only 400 m into the stage. Treat with caution! The rest of the stage is all uphill on medium gravelled public road. |
| 7 | Silverpeaks | 16.22kms | 14:57 | Completed | Last used in 2001. Starts on cresty public road then into forestry section finishing on public road that may be rough. Could be slippery if wet. |
| 8 | Tarmac Super Special | 2.15kms | 15:57 | Completed | Run every year since 1996. 4 laps of a city block. Fast, furious and spectacular! |

| 9 | Whare Flat | 12.86kms | 07:25 | Completed | An Otago Classic to start Day 2. Run in the same direction as 2008. Starts on forestry roads then moves onto very fast downhill section finishing with three tricky fords not to be taken lightly. |
| 10 | Kuri Bush | 15.11kms | 08:20 | Completed | Probably the best stage of the lot. New Zealand’s version of Finland. Classic stage with huge crests. Rewards the brave and those who should be committed. |
| 11 | Waipori Gorge | 12.99kms | 09:15 | Completed | Another stage we couldn’t leave out. Run uphill – same as 2008 / 2009. Tighter than most Otago stages with medium gravel over a hard base. Could be icy. Watch out for the river alongside the road. |
| 12 | Bald Hill 1 | 10.61kms | 11:10 | Completed | Last years ‘Moonlight’ stage run in reverse direction. Starts on flowing and fast public road before finishing on tight and twisty down hill section. |
| 13 | Longdale | 12.59kms | 11:40 | Completed | Used for the first time in 2009. Fast public road with medium gravel. |
| 14 | Hartfield | 18.84kms | 12:00 | Completed | Run in reverse direction to 2009. Very fast public road stage on medium gravel. |
| 15 | Bald Hill 2 | 10.61kms | 13:15 | Completed | Last years ‘Moonlight’ stage run in reverse direction. Starts on flowing and fast public road before finishing on tight and twisty down hill section. |
| 16 | Nenthorn | 28.99kms | 13:40 | Completed | Last years ‘Ramrock’ stage in reverse. 100% public road. Light to medium gravel over a hard base. Sections of fast, flowing road interspersed with tighter sections. A great finishing stage. |
